CHADWICK Website: Referred by: Just Surfed On In From: Time: 2000-03-20 01:34:44 Comments: Date: Fri, 1 Oct 1999 23:44:25 +0100 All, It's good to see that someone has taken the initiative to preserve our memories. I served with HHC 143rd Signal from 88-91, working in BSM / BEMS as a PCM / LOS repairer. I still maintain contact with several members of our former battalion ie SPC Sean Wright (BSM), SPC Johnnie Bull (BSM), and SGT Douglas Imig (BSM). I was commissioned in 1996 and re-entered the service. Since that time I have run into CW4 Walker (CMDSA) at Ft Huachuca (on TDY), SFC Alex Roman (ADSO) at Ft Gordon, SFC Lopez (Alpha Company) while I was in Bosnia, and CW3 Etleman at Ft Huachuca. Most of us have departed the service by now, with few exceptions. As for our higher ranking officers, LTC Cavanaugh is now the 5th Signal Command Commander (now BG), LTC Burse was the 82nd's Signal Battalion Commander a few years back (now COL), and MAJ Titus is the 1108th Commander (now COL). I will be transitioning to the Reserves in May 00 to finish out my service. My question to everyone is "Was the 143rd Signal Battalion awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) for it's efforts during Operation Desert Shield / Storm?? I have been researching the issue with no luck. I am aware that we follow under DISCOM, 3rd Armored Division for deployment purposes. However, we were left off of the listings on the PERSCOM page. Units that rolled with us, such as 122 SPT, and 22 CHEM are listed as receiving the MUC, but nothing on the 143rd. Please inform me if you have documentation that states otherwise. Everyone that served with us during that Persian Gulf has the right to be properly recognized for there efforts and sacrifices. V/R STEPHEN D.
