World War II

During the war, the unit participated on five campaigns to include: Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe.  It was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Belgium Fourragère, and cited in the Order of the Day for the Belgian Army for action in Belgium and the Ardennes.

The Persian Gulf War

The unit received Campaign credits for its service in the Persian Gulf War to include: the Defense of Saudi Arabia, the Liberation and Defense of Kuwait. Awards include the Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars [Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Cease-Fire Operations], Kuwaiti Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabian Government), Kuwaiti Liberation Medal (Kuwaiti Government), and the National Defense Medal.

Presented to the members of the G41Small Extension Node (SEN),

From B Co. 143rd Signal Battalion, 3AD. 

This coin was awarded by 

Colonel William Lafayette Nash, Cdr., 1st Bde, 3AD.

For providing Encrypted Communications Support while attached to the RFCT, under combat conditions, in the Saudi Arabian, Iraqi and Kuwaiti Theater of Operations.

Verification of Tour Memo

From the Verification of Tour Memo, 143rd Signal Battalion:

Service members with the unit during the Persian Gulf War-Operation Desert Storm, are entitled to be awarded the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia or Combat Patch, of the 3rd Armor Division, Spearhead, and any additional medals which are authorized as part of this conflict. Duty was performed in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait. While in Kuwait, duty was performed near several hundred burning oil wells at Grid Coordinate QU580060.

Any information on additional awards, medals & certificates would greatly be appreciated.
